    Salish Sea Marine Survival Project

    Pacific salmon are fundamental to biodiversity in the Salish Sea, and changes in the marine ecosystems have been significant. The Salish Sea Marine Survival Project will bring together resources and scientific expertise from Canada and the U.S. to study all biological and environmental factors limiting salmon production and the marine ecosystem. The Pacific Salmon Foundation’s efforts will focus on the Strait of Georgia, the Canadian side of the Salish Sea.

    Harrison Salmon Stronghold Slough Restoration 2014

    Pacific Salmon Foundation is a contributor to the Harrison River Salmon Stronghold with the Sts’ailes Nation, the first effort of it’s kind in Canada. The Stronghold’s goal is to protect the healthy and dynamic salmon stocks present in the Harrison river. In 2014, Pacific Salmon Foundation granted $40,000 to help restore the Harrison Slough and increase salmon spawning & rearing habitat.

    Hells Gate – 100 Years of Cooperation on the Fraser River

    In 1913 a railway blast sent hundreds of tons of rock into the Fraser River, blocking the path of thousands of returning salmon. This commemoration ceremony marks 100 Years of cooperation between the Canadian Government, the US Government, First Nations and US Tribes working together to help Wild Salmon make it past Hell’s Gate on the Fraser River to their traditional spawning grounds.
